In a stunning revelation, former BCCI selector Raj Singh Dungarpur shared an emotional moment from the dressing room after a crucial match where Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar played an extraordinary innings. Dungarpur described Tendulkar's emotional state, comparing it to that of a schoolboy in tears.

In a match which will go down in the history of the game, the Master Blaster delivered an innings of profound importance. The context was a chase of 271 runs in the fourth innings, with India faltering at 6/2 when Tendulkar took to the crease.

Following that, he crafted a remarkable century- 136. With the Indian team requiring 17 runs with only four wickets in hand, his wearied shot against Saqlain Mushtaq led to his dismissal. The following collapse saw three quick wickets tumble for a mere four runs, ultimately granting Pakistan a 12-run victory. The sportsmanship displayed by the Chepauk crowd was evident as they offered the Pakistani team a standing ovation at the conclusion of the intense contest.

When Tendulkar got emotional in dressing room

However, Tendulkar, overwhelmed by disappointment, could not come to terms with the defeat. Despite receiving the Player of the Match award, he chose to remain in the dressing room during the presentation ceremony.

As Dungarpur consoled Tendulkar, he repeatedly questioned why the cricketing maestro was shouldering the entire burden of the loss. Despite the defeat, Dungarpur emphasized how Tendulkar's exceptional performance had turned the impossible into reality on the field.

"I came down to the dressing room. I think it’s fair for me to say that Sachin Tendulkar was weeping like a schoolboy. I kept on telling him, 'Why are you taking the whole blame on yourself? We had lost the match, but you made the impossible possible by playing this great innings,”  said Raj Singh Dungarpur.

Tendulkar, however, remained steadfast in his self-blame, stating,

"No sir, I've lost this match."

Dungarpur noted that it is a rare occurrence to receive the "man of the match" award despite being on the losing side. Standing on the podium, Dungarpur signaled to Anshuman Gaekwad, the coach of the Indian team, asking him where’s Tendulkar.

Gaekwad responded by saying: "Not coming."

It's worth noting that Raj Singh Dungarpur, a two-term selector for the national team, and four-time manager of the Indian cricket team on overseas tours, played a pivotal role in Tendulkar's introduction to international cricket.
