Former India cricketer Manoj Tiwary expressed heartfelt congratulations to his former teammate Yusuf Pathan on Sunday, March 10, as Pathan embarks on a new journey into politics.

Renowned for his cricketing skills, Yusuf will contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections for Trinamool Congress (TMC) from the Berhampore constituency in West Bengal.

This move places him among TMC's 42 candidates for the forthcoming General elections, alongside other notable figures like 1983 World Cup winner Kirti Azad.

Tiwary, currently serving as the Sports Minister of Bengal, reminisced about their playing days together while extending his best wishes for Pathan's political endeavour.

The duo had previously shared the field representing Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL), fostering a strong friendship and bond over the years.

In a heartfelt message shared on his social media account, Tiwary welcomed Yusuf Pathan to the political arena, highlighting their journey from IPL triumphs to this significant milestone.

He expressed confidence in Pathan's capabilities and urged for collaborative efforts to serve Bengal under the leadership of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and youth icon Abhishek Banerjee.

Yusuf Pathan's decision to step into politics adds to the growing trend of cricketers and sports personalities venturing into the political sphere across the nation.

While Yusuf prepares for this new inning, speculation arises about whether his younger brother, Irfan Pathan, will join him on this political journey. However, there is currently no information available regarding Irfan's intentions in this regard.
