Pakistan pacer, Hasan Ali has reacted to Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) president, Mohsin Naqvi's comments about having a 'major surgery' of the men's side following the debacle at the T20 World Cup, calling out the lack of bench strength.

The 30-year-old, Hasan Ali who did not feature in the T20 World Cup in the USA and West Indies and played for Warwickshire in the County Championship and Vitality Blast in the April to June window talked about Pakistan's poor bench strength across format and the required changes in the team to turn things around after recent disappointment.

Hasan Ali hits back at PCB Chairman's surgery remarks

“I don’t know in what context the chairman has mentioned surgery. Change all 11 players is not possible. Sorry to say, we don’t have such backups. I don’t know about the surgery, but things should be done for the betterment of cricket. The chairman should take strong steps and make firm decisions,” said Ali.

He also took a jibe at the surgery comment by pointing towards Pakistan's bench strength, saying surgical equipment is necessary for a surgery,

"We should strengthen our bench strength, like every team in the world. We have seen in the recent past that a country continues to field two teams on tours. If Pakistan had these two teams today, we wouldn’t have to talk about doing surgery.

"For example, a Test series is coming up and Pakistan won’t have an alternate spinner. To perform surgery, surgical equipment is essential,” he concluded.

Following an off month, Pakistan will next be hosting Bangladesh and England for 2 and 3 Test match series respectively, starting from August 21.
