The International Cricket Council, on Tuesday, announced the nominees for the best male and female cricketers for the month of July.

Two of England's biggest performers in the recent Ashes series- opener Zak Crawley and seam-bowling all-rounder Chris Woakes- have been nominated for the same followed by Dutch all-rounder Bas de Leede, who was absolutely sensational in the recent World Cup Qualifiers.

Crawley finished as England's leading run-scorer in Ashes 2023- 412 runs @ 58.85- often setting the tone of their innings. The right-hander was at the peak of his powers in Manchester as he smoked a whirlwind 189 (182) to leave the Aussies gasping for breath.

His teammate, Chris Woakes, did not play in the first couple of Tests, but once he was slotted in the playing XI, he proved why he is one of the most dangerous seamers in English conditions.

Apart from his all-round heroics in Leeds, Woakes claimed 12 wickets in the last two Tests, and his spell on the final day of the Oval Test was one of the major reasons why England were able to defend their target of 374.

He was eventually adjudged England's 'Player of the Series'.

The third nominee is Netherlands' all-rounded Bas de Leede, who pulled off one of the greatest individual all-round performances last month to help his team secure the ticket to India for the 50-over World Cup.

In a must-win game against Scotland, De Leede claimed 5/52 before smashing an unbeaten 123 to ensure that his side pipped the Scotts on NRR to qualify for the main-event.

Women Cricket nominees for the month of July

As far as Women cricketers are concerned, champion Aussie all-rounders Ellyse Perry and Ashleigh Gardner and their English counterpart, Nat Sciver-Brunt have been nominated.

Perry hammered 276 runs at an average of 69 during the recent ODI series against England. She also shone in the shortest format of the game, striking at an imperious 158.62.

Her teammate, Ashleigh Gardner chipped in with 9 wickets in 3 ODIs besides scoring crucial 30s and 40s.

England all-rounded Nat Sciver-Brunt, on the other hand, was at her breathtaking best in the ODI series as she smashed back-to-back tons to help her side win the series.

Overall, she scored 271 runs at an average of over 100 and a strike rate of 90, besides chipping in with contributions with the ball and in the field.
