Indian batter, Manoj Tiwary has chosen to reverse his retirement announcement made merely a week ago on Instagram.

Tiwary set to play for Bengal again after reversing retirement

Intense discussions with the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) appear to have swayed the maestro's decision, signalling a return to the Bengal cricketing fold.

A report from India Today states that a pivotal chat with CAB president Snehasish Ganguly played a significant role in influencing Tiwary’s decision to retract his retirement. Further details on the matter are expected to emerge following a scheduled meeting between Tiwary and CAB officials this Tuesday.

It's understood that Ganguly had urged Tiwary to persist in his contributions for the state. Notably, under Tiwary’s captaincy, Bengal clinched a spot in the Rani Trophy 2022-23 semifinals, ultimately finishing as the runners-up.

The distinguished cricketer has been a stalwart for Bengal cricket over the years. His impressive track record comprises 141 first-class, 169 List A, and 183 T20 matches.

In his illustrious first-class stint, he amassed a whopping 9902 runs at a commendable average of 48.56, to go with with 29 hundreds and 45 half-centuries.

Tiwary's contributions to the national side haven’t been as great as his domestic record. He wore the Indian Blue in 12 ODIs and 3 T20Is, with his last game for India coming in 2015 against Zimbabwe.

His ODI record boasts of 287 runs, including a century and a half-century. In T20I cricket, he scored 15 runs over three games, having got the chance to bat in just one of them

With the Indian domestic stalwart taking a U-turn from his decision, Bengal's cricketing future looks optimistic. Fans and teammates alike will eagerly await his official announcement and return to the crease.
