Former Indian captain and legendary wicketkeeper-batsman MS Dhoni has had and continues to have a profound impact on his fellow cricketers.

Dhoni's immaculate calmness under pressure is unmatched, in addition to his superior cricketing skills in his heydays.

The former World Cup-winning skipper championed the ability to soak in the pressure in crunch situations and deliver goods for his team with the bat as well as a tactician.

During his career, Dhoni played 15 years of non-stop international cricket, leading the most high-profile cricket team in the world for the better part of the decade.

So, what sets MSD apart? Why could he soak in so much pressure when many would have wilted under it?

In a recent chat with Star Sports, India's current T20I skipper Hardik Pandya revealed that this is exactly the same thing he asked MSD when he burst on the scene back in 2016-17.

Hardik asked Dhoni how to handle the pressure of being an international cricketer. And Dhoni replied by urging the all-rounder to always look at the scoreboard, see what his team requires, and play according to it.

This advice has stayed with Pandya even till now, as he tries to emulate the Dhoni template of taking matches deep.

"I asked him (MS Dhoni) in 2016-17, and it has stayed with me till now. I asked him, ' how to handle international pressure?', and he said one thing that stays in my mind. He said, "Look at the scoreboard and play, but don't look at your part, look at what the team requires, because that kind of gets away from your personal goals. From 'I' it becomes 'We', and I've always been a 'We' guy," said Hardik Pandya in a chat with Star Sports.

Meanwhile, Pandya exhibited tremendous all-round skills in the second T20I, but his valiant efforts went in vain as India incurred a two-wicket defeat against West Indies in Guyana.
