Uganda skipper Brian Masaba scripted history as he became the first bowler from the nation to take a wicket in the T20 World Cup 2024. The spinner cleaned up destructive Afghan opener Ibrahim Zadran, who looked well-set for a deserved hundred during the ongoing encounter between the two sides in Guyana.

The incident occurred during the 15th over of Afghanistan's innings when Ibrahim had already formed a scintillating opening stand alongside Gurbaz. Amid the Afghan openers' carnage, Masaba brought a sigh of relief to the Uganda camp, dismissing Ibrahim with a ripper.

After conceding only two runs off his first two deliveries, Masaba bowled a flighted ball, inviting Ibrahim for a big shot.

The batter fell in the trap as he danced down the track  to slog it away in the leg side. However, he was completely bamboozled by Masaba's guile, with the ball uprooting his stumps.

Soon after Afghanistan lost Ibrahim, Gurbaz threw his wicket off Alpesh Ramjani's bowling. Masaba continued his onslaught as he got rid of Najibullah Zadran in his third over.

As of writing, Afghanistan were cruising towards a mammoth score, placed at 166 for three with Mohammad Nabi and Gulbadin Naib batting in the middle.
