Notably, Rohit featured in a Duleep Trophy match eight years ago when he represented India Blue against India Red in the final. 

The match was conducted at the Shahid Vijay Singh Pathik Stadium in Greater Noida between September 10-14.

It was a high-scoring affair as India Blue batted first to post a mammoth total of 693/6, riding on marathon knocks from Cheteshwar Pujara and Sheldon Jackson. 

India's current head coach Gautam Gambhir also chipped in with a glorious 94-run knock, while Rohit Sharma could muster only 30 runs. 

He was caught by Shikhar Dhawan off Amit Mishra's bowling. However, he remained unbeaten on a gritty 75-ball 32 in the second innings. 

India Blue were clinical in the game as they thrashed India Red by 355 runs to clinch the title.
