The maveric English captain, Ben Stokes suffered yet another injury during The Hundred 2024 competition between Manchester Originals and Northern Superchargers.

Stokes, who opened the innings for the Superchargers hurt his knee, and looked in agonizing pain as he was taken off the field, creating doubts on his England future. The Test captain's career has been marred by injuries, and the latest setback has created another problem for the dynamic Stokes.

Stokes' long-standing injury issues

The 33-year-old had been struggling with long-standing issues on his left knee, and underwent a successful surgery last year. It won't be an understatement to say that his body has become fragile, and Stokes, now has a limited life-shell of playing cricket.

Stokes, primarily plays as an all-rounder for England in Tests, but in the last few years, he has hardly chipped in with the ball. There have been Test matches, when he has played purely as a batter, which came in a surprise for many. The long-standing knee injury was the pedominent reason as to why Stokesy, as they call him, avoided bowling in Test cricket.

However, that was not beneficial for England, as the all-rounder wasn't fully utilizing his potential, which harmed the Three Lions' long-term prospect, and also created a disbalance in the side. The power-packed all-rounder has already retired from T20Is, and with the Sri Lanka series coming in a few days time, he should have avoided playing in The Hundred.

Stokes, way too important for England

He played an unnecessary match, and was injured once again as the ECB sweat hard on his fitness. Stokes is too valuable in this England side. Never before has any England captain got this much importance, as Stokes is getting. He has proven time and again that he is here to change the English cricket, and in his absence, the team might crumble.

England are already struggling in the WTC points table, and they need their inspirational leader to lead the charge as the quest for a WTC final still hangs in balance for the Three Lions. Stokes is creating his own graveyard with frequent injury setbacks, and this is not only harming him, but also the England side as well.
