BCCI secretary Jay Shah congratulated India's premier athlete Neeraj Chopra for securing a silver medal in men's Javelin throw competition in the ongoing Paris Olympics. On Thursday night, Neeraj Chopra exhibited commendable skills, becoming India's first silver medalist in the event with a magnificent throw in the second attempt.

Although Neeraj put up his second-best performance, he couldn't breach the 90m-mark in any of his attempts.

Thus, he fell short of Arshad Nadeem's tally by more than 3m, as the famed Pakistani javelin thrower bagged the gold medal by setting an Olympic record of 92.97m.

Despite Neeraj missing the gold by a whisker, BCCI secretary Jay Shah came forward to congratulate him for his inspirational campaign.

Taking to his official social media handle on X (formerly Twitter), Shah commended Neeraj for his valiant effort and commitment in the final.

"Back-to-back Olympic medals for our star, Neeraj Chopra! 🥈India's first silver medal at the #Paris2024 Olympics, and what a way to achieve it! You might have fallen short of the gold, but your commitment and effort in the final were really inspiring!," Shah tweeted.

Notably, Neeraj enjoyed stellar success in the Tokyo Olympics, as he clinched the gold medal, becoming the first Indian javelin thrower to do so.

Although he secured a silver this time, he became the first-ever Indian athlete to claim two olympic medals in different editions since independence.
