Mohammed Shami will go down as one of the finest players to play for India and has over 200 wickets in Test cricket. He is quite effective in white-ball formats too and was quite lethal in the 2023 World Cup. His record in the IPL too is quite good and in 110 matches he has picked 127 wickets so far.

The right-handed pacer was first signed by Kolkata Knight Riders for the 2011 edition of the Indian Premier League. However, he made his debut in the IPL for the franchise in the 2013 edition where he picked just one wicket in three matches. He then played for Delhi Daredevils from 2014 to 2018 season. He missed the 2015 season though and overall, he could not make much of an impact in his stint with DD.

Shami's Impressive Show For Punjab Kings And Gujarat Titans

However, the move to Punjab Kings worked wonders and in three seasons for the franchsie, he picked 58 wickets. He then moved to Gujarat Titans ahead of the 2022 season and delivered straightaway with 20 wickets. The 2023 season proved too be his best and he he bagged 28 wickets in 16 matches, striking regularly in the Powerplay.

Mohammed Shami missed out on the 2024 season due to injury, and overall, he played for four teams in the IPL. He has been released by Gujarat Titans ahead of the 2025 mega auction and with him being fit now, the right-arm pacer is likely to get good bucks in the auction. 

He has not played international cricket since the 2023 World Cup, but remains a quality bowler and has registered at a base price of INR 2 Crore for the mega auction. GT can still use RTM for the pacer and with the kind of performances he delivered for them in the two seasons, there is a high possibility of it.
