Karun Nair grabbed spotlight with a fantastic triple-century in just his third Test against England at Chepauk. However, he could play just three more games for India after that and has been out of the national team for more than six years. He had an indifferent time at the domestic level too, but he has shown signs of getting back to his best in the last couple of years and now in the fourth game of the current season of Ranji Trophy, he has smashed his 20th first-class ton.

Karun Nair Hits His First Century Of Ranji Trophy 2024-25

He is playing for Vidarbha and the century came against Gujarat at the VCA ground in Nagpur. Karun Nair walked out to bat at number 4 in Vidarbha's first innings after the lost two wickets for 50 runs. Gujarat batted first and scored 343 runs, so Vidarbha needed a big first innings score and Karun Nair along with Danish Malewar stepped up.

Both played positive cricket and Karun Nair got to his century with a delicate tuck towards the fine leg in the 81st over of the innings. His century came in 183 balls, and the right-handed batter eventually departed for 123 off 237 balls which included 16 fours and three sixes.

Danish Malewar, on the other hand, scored 115 off 228 balls and their twin-centuries have given Vidarbha a healthy first innings lead. Karun Nair recently also scored a century in Maharaja T20 Trophy and would be hoping for a big Ranji season to put himself back in the radar of national selectors. Overall, he has an impressive average of around 50 in first-class cricket and has 35 fifties along with 20 centuries.
