Jay Shah began his career as an executive board member of the Central Board of Cricket, Ahmedabad, in 2009.

His notable rise commenced in September 2013, when he was appointed the joint secretary of the Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA).

During his tenure, Shah played a pivotal role in the construction of the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, alongside his father, Amit Shah, who was the GCA president at the time. This stadium is the largest cricket stadium in the world.

Jay Shah's journey with the BCCI began in 2015 when he became a member of the finance and marketing committees. In September 2019, Shah stepped down from his role as the joint secretary of the GCA, and in the following month, he was elected as the secretary of the BCCI.

At just 31 years old, he became the youngest of the five office bearers. In October 2022, Shah was re-elected as the secretary of the BCCI.
