On the third day of the one-off Test at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, Indian all-rounder Deepti Sharma delivered a crucial breakthrough against South Africa, bolstering India's dominant position in the match.

After enforcing the follow-on, Deepti's bowling made an immediate impact, removing opener Anneke Bosch for just 9 runs.

In a crucial moment, Deepti Sharma bowled a well-flighted off-break that stayed unexpectedly low. 

On the fourth ball of the eighth over, Anneke Bosch misjudged the delivery, which snuck under her bat and struck her plumb in front. This early dismissal left South Africa struggling with just 16 runs on the board.

Despite the early setback from Deepti's breakthrough, South Africa showed resilience in their second innings. At the time of writing, they had reached 149/1 after 55 overs.

Meanwhile, earlier in the game, India's innings was highlighted by a record-breaking opening partnership between Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana. The duo amassed a historic 292 runs, the highest-ever opening stand in Women's Test Cricket.

Shafali scripted history with the fastest double century in Test cricket, scoring a breathtaking 205 runs, while Mandhana contributed a solid 149. Their partnership set the tone for India's commanding total of 603/6, leaving South Africa with an uphill battle.

In the first innings, Sneh Rana produced an extraordinary bowling performance, claiming eight wickets and becoming only the third woman in Test cricket to achieve such a feat. 

Her exceptional spell dismantled the South African batting lineup, who were bowled out for 266 in their first innings. Rana's dominance played a crucial role in enforcing the follow-on, putting India firmly in control.
