BCCI Announces 'Massive' Prize Money For Indian Team Following T20 World Cup Triumph

Jay Shah, the secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a whopping 125-crore prize money for the World Cup winning squad and support staff following India's win over South Africa in the final of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in Barbados.

The Indian men's team, on Saturday, June 29, ended India's 11-year-long trophy drought by defeating South Africa by 7 runs in the final after playing an unbeaten campaign, winning all 8 matches played, barring a washout against Canada.

Following the historic campaign, the BCCI secretary tweeted a special message for the team, congratulating them and announcing the massive 125-crore prize money for the team and support staff.

The Rohit Sharma led side was steered to the win on the final by his opening partner, Virat Kohli and all rounder, Axar Patel who scored 76(59) and 47(31) respectively after India struggling at 34/3 at a point. 

With the ball, Hardik Pandya took 3 important wickets in his match winning spell in the death overs while Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh took two wickets each. Bumrah was also named as the player of the tournament for massive contributions in crunch situations, scalping 15 wickets at an economy of just 4.17.

Captain Sharma led the team from the front with the bat with 257 runs in the tournament, just second to Rahmanullah Gurbaz's 281 while Arshdeep finished with 17 wickets which was joint-most alongside Fazalhaq Farooqi.
