Hardik Pandya, who was reportedly all set to join the Mumbai Indians franchise for the 2024 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), will continue to shelter at Gujarat Titans camp as their captain. The Titans management, putting an end to all speculations, stamped an extension over the all-round maverick on the day of IPL 2024 retentions deadline.

Even though Pandya has been retained by the Gujarat Titans ahead of the auctions, a possibility still exists where the cricketer can shift back to Mumbai Indians prior to the next month’s bidding event.

On November 26, Pandya was among the 18 stars retained by the management alongside fellow GT zealots David Miller, Shubman Gill, Rashid Khan, Rahul Tewatia, Wriddhiman Saha among several others.

Hardik Pandya can still relocate to MI via this method

For weeks, Hardik Pandya was projected to become Mumbai Indians next captain from IPL 2024 season. However, all rumors were put to rest by Pandya’s current owners Gujarat Titans themselves, who retained the star all-rounder.

However, the cricketer might still relocate back to the Mumbai Indians camp via trading between the two franchises. The IPL 2024 trading window is slated to be open until seven days prior to the launch of the auctions, set to be held on December 19 in Dubai.

Hardik Pandya started out his IPL journey back in 2015 through the Mumbai Indians camp. Winning four titles under Rohit Sharma’s leadership, the all-rounder surprised one and all by ending his association to join Gujarat Titans in their maiden IPL assignment in 2022.

After leading the Titans to title glory in 2022, the cricketer led them to another final the following season in 2023 in Ahmedabad. The 30-year-old might well continue as their leader in 2024 if the Titans decides against any possible trade with the Mumbai Indians.
