RCB have released Josh Hazlewood [X.com]
In a massive development, the IPL retention list was revealed on Sunday, with all ten franchises revealing their retained players ahead of the much-awaited auction next month. While some teams released several non-performing players, some raised eyebrows with shocking releases.
Known for their habit to surprise everyone, Royal Challengers Bangalore took a few bold calls ahead of the auction, surprising fans and experts. Led by Faf du Plessis, fans' favourite RCB released several players, who were integral members of their core group until the last season.
In an interesting move, RCB released ace speedster Josh Hazlewood, who was a force to reckon with the ball in the power play. They also moved on from Harshal Patel, releasing him to the auction pool. Sri Lankan spinner Wanindu Hasaranga, who was ruled out of the ODI World Cup due to injury, has also been axed by the RCB management.
Apart from these three key players, RCB also released the Kiwi duo of Finn Allen and Michael Bracewell alongside bowling all-rounders David Willey and Wayne Parnell. Sonu Yadav, Avinash Singh, Siddharth Kaul and Kedar Jadhav have also been excluded and won't be a part of RCB in the IPL 2024.
Before disclosing their retention list, RCB had traded Mayank Dagar and Cameron Green from SRH and MI, respectively.
