Indian wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant has been nominated in the comeback of the year category of the prestigious Laureus Award. He becomes only the second Indian cricketer to get a nomination after Sachin Tendulkar.
Rishabh Pant, the dynamic young wicket-keeper batter from India, had a serious career altering event in his life a couple of years back. While travelling home for New Year’s eve in 2022, his car crashed into the divider on the road and caught fire.
Pant had a close escape from the accident as the first respondents pulled him out of the burning vehicle in time. But he received serious injuries to his back, wrist, knee and head.
Despite countless surgeries, Pant kept the hope of a comeback on the cricket field alive, though some critics wrote him off.
In IPL 2024, Rishabh Pant made his inspiring comeback, leading the Delhi Capitals against the Punjab Kings. He hasn’t looked back ever since and went on to all formats of the game for the Indian cricket team.

Meanwhile, to honour his inspiring comeback, the Laureus Award has nominated Rishabh Pant for the Comeback of the Year award for 2024.
The wicket-keeper has made history as he is only the second Indian cricketer after Sachin Tendulkar to get a nomination for the prestigious award.
The Laureus World Sports Awards is one of the most prestigious honours in the sporting world, often referred to as the "Oscars of Sports."
The awards honour exceptional success across different categories, ranging from individual and team performances to extraordinary comebacks and service to society via sport.
Pant gifts scooter to men who saved his life
Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant won hearts with a heartwarming gesture. He gifted scooters to Rajat Kumar and Nishu Kumar, the two individuals who played a crucial role in saving his life after his horrific car accident in December 2022.
According to reports from 7 Cricket, Pant gifted brand-new scooters to Rajat and Nishu as a token of appreciation. After his recovery, Pant had also put a social media post to thank Rajat and Nishu and promised help in any form.
