India beat New Zealand by 44 runs in the 12th fixture of 2025 Champions Trophy 2025. While fans initially blamed Anushka Sharma for Virat Kohli’s failure, many internet users had a change of heart after India won the game.

Team India have officially qualified for the semi-final of Champions Trophy 2025 after they beat New Zealand in the final league fixture. 

Shreyas Iyer’s half-century powered the men in blue to 249 runs total in the first inning. 

Moreover, Varun Chakaravarthy’s five-wicket-haul in the second inning restricted New Zealand to just 205 runs, leading to a 44-run mega win.

Fans hail Anushka Sharma despite initial criticism

Meanwhile, during the first inning of the India-New Zealand game, superstar batter Virat Kohli failed to play an impactful inning. 

He scored just 11 runs off 14 balls before Glenn Phillips pulled off a blinding one-handed catch to dismiss his stay at the crease.

Some fans blamed his wife, Anushka Sharma for Kohli’s failure. However, as soon as India won the game, supporters of Anushka put positive tweets, crediting the actress for India’s victory.

BCCI had altered family guidelines for foreign tours as family members were allowed to attend only limited games. Anushka Sharma was seen for the first time in the stands at this Champions Trophy.

That being said, India will now meet Australia in the first semi-final of the 2025 Champions Trophy. The arch nemesis will clash on 4th of March, 2025 at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
