The Canada cricket team has sealed a spot for the 2026 Men’s ICC T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka next year. Under the leadership of Nicholas Kirton, Canada recently crushed Bahamas by seven wickets and with 14.3 overs to spare in match number nine of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Americas Regional Qualifiers.
With five wins in five games this tournament, an unbeaten Canada team will now face Bermuda in King City in the early hours of Monday, June 23 (as per the IST).
Canada To Fly To India For T20 World Cup, Confirms ICC
The Canada cricket team has successfully secured a qualification for the 2026 Men’s ICC T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka next year, as confirmed by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on June 22.
Canada sealed its spot after annihilating Bahamas by seven wickets. After winning the toss and electing to bowl first at the Maple Leaf North-West Ground in King City, Canadian pacer Kaleem Sana picked up figures of 3-6 while right-arm offspinner Shivam Sharma claimed 3-16 to envelop the entire Bahamas innings for just 57 in 19.5 overs.
In response, Dilpreet Bajwa bludgeoned 36* from just 14 balls as Canada chased down Bahamas’ 57 inside the powerplay with seven wickets in the bank.
The outcome marked Canada’s fifth successive win this 2025 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Americas Region Final Qualifier, having crushed Cayman (twice), Bahamas (twice) and Bermuda with emphatic margins so far.
Under the leadership of Nicholas Kirton, Canada will now face Bermuda in the final match of the tournament. The action will commence from 1:00 AM IST onwards on Monday, June 23 at the same King City venue.
