As the first Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy heads into its third and arguably most important day, all eyes are on the skies over Headingley. After two action-packed days of Test cricket between India and England the Day 3 traditionally considered the 'moving day' in red-ball cricket, could be disrupted by adverse weather.

ENG vs IND: Headingley Weather Update For Today

According to AccuWeather.com, there is a 65% chance of rain on Sunday (June 22), with intermittent showers predicted between 2 PM and 4 PM local time. Play was already halted for nearly an hour on Day 2 due to rain, and a similar scenario could unfold again on Day 3.

The good news for fans is that, despite the forecasted rain, no more than two hours of play is expected to be lost. The morning is expected to begin cloudy and breezy, but dry enough to allow for a timely start. From 11 AM to 4 PM, chances of precipitation are relatively low, offering a potential window for uninterrupted cricket.

However, conditions are forecast to deteriorate after 4 PM at Headingley Stadium, with rain and even thunderstorms expected in the early evening (around 13%), potentially curtailing the final session of play. Humidity levels are expected to hover around 60%. The wind is expected to flow from the WSW direction at the speed of 22 km/h and gusts reaching upto 56 km/h.

With all these conditions, Day 3 of the Leeds Test might be disrupted.

Match Situation Heading Into Day 3

India posted a formidable first-innings total of 471, riding on centuries from Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, and Rishabh Pant. England, in reply, ended Day 2 at 209/3, still trailing by 262 runs. While Zak Crawley fell early, Ben Duckett and Ollie Pope steadied the ship for the hosts.

With England looking to close the gap and India aiming for early breakthroughs, Day 3 could well decide the direction of this Test.

As things stand, the weather may become an 'X-factor' in the contest so far. Both teams will be hoping to make the most of the available playtime on Day 3 before the Leeds skies make their presence felt again.
