India's star seamer Harshit Rana is known for his animated celebrations and over-the-top aggression on the field. At present, the right-arm pacer is leading the North Delhi Strikers. On Monday, August 11, Rana's side locked horns against West Delhi Lions, where his team registered an eleven-run win.
Notably, Harshit played a key part in the win, and he picked up a solitary wicket for 33 runs in his four overs. Further, the 23-year-old also landed in hot water after picking up his only wicket of the night because of over-the-top celebrations.
Harshit Rana Fined For His Send-Off
Harshit Rana got rid of Ayush Doseja and celebrated the wicket by pointing fingers at him and telling the youngster to return to the pavilion. The action didn't go well with the DPL organisers, who took a note of the action and have now fined Rana 10% of his match fees as reported by Hindustan Times.
“Harshit Rana admitted to the Level 1 Offence under Article 2.5 (Using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from another player in the Match) and accepted the Match Referee's sanction,” the DPL's official statement read.
Harshit was not the only player to be fined in that match as North Delhi Strikers batter Yajas Sharma also docked 20 per cent of the match fees for abusing on the field, while, West Delhi Lions batter Krish Yadav was also fined 20% match-fees for the same offense.
Rana Also Fined In IPL 2024 For Aggressive Nature
Rana is habitual of such behaviour as Harshit was fined twice for his celebration in IPL 2024. Notably, he gave a flying kiss to Mayank Agarwal, which didn't go well with the fans also IPL's governing body.
Further, The the 23-year-old was handed a one-match ban. after a similar send-off to Abishek Porel and missed out on the crucial match against Mumbai Indians.
