In a significant development, England ODI and T20I captain Harry Brook has issued an apology to the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). Notably, the skipper was surrounded by controversy after he created a ruckus outside a nightclub in New Zealand before the third ODI against the Kiwis.

A recent report from The Telegraph mentioned that Brook was denied entry to the club and got into a scuffle with the bouncer. The matter spread like wildfire, and it led to the ECB intervening in the matter. There were reports that the board might send Brook back home, but nothing of that sort happened, and the right-handed batter featured in the final ODI and played the entire Ashes as well.

ECB issues a warning to Harry Brook

Now, after the conclusion of the Ashes, a BCC report has made shocking revelations from the nightclub incident, and it stated that the ECB issued a final warning to the 26-year-old. The board threatened Brook of stripping ODI captaincy from him if he refeated such action in the future.

Brook eventually managed to escape losing his ODI contract, but has been fined £30,000 and is on a final warning for his future conduct.

Harry Brook apologises to the ECB

In the latest events, Brook has also apologised for his behaviour and assured the board that he will not repeat such incidents that bring shame to England cricket.

"I want to apologise for my actions. I fully accept that my behaviour was wrong and brought embarrassment to both myself and the England team,” said Brook as quoted by the BBC.

"Representing England is the greatest honour of all, which I take seriously, and I am deeply sorry for letting down my team-mates, coaches and supporters. I have reflected on the lessons it has taught me about responsibility, professionalism and the standards expected of those representing your country,” he added.

"I am determined to learn from this mistake and to rebuild trust through my future actions, both on and off the field. I apologise unreservedly and will work hard to ensure this does not happen again," Brook concluded.

Brook escapes action in Noosa Nightclub

For the unversed, England stars again got under the scanner during Ashes when the players were partying in a nightclub in Noosa. Several clips circulated on social media, where the England stars were intoxicated, and it led to the ECB intervenening in that matter as well.

Luckily for Brook, he had no such video, because that would have surely got him stripped of his captaincy duties. Further, the 26-year-old is all set to lead England in the T20 World Cup that starts from February 7 in India and Sri Lanka.
