In a significant development, the news from the Delhi Capitals' camp is that Rishabh Pant is all set to stay with the Capitals for IPL 2025. According to reports from Cricbuzz, Delhi Capitals skipper Rishabh Pant will be DC's top-choice retention for IPL 2025, and the southpaw will not be moving to Chennai Super Kings as the rumours had suggested.
Other than Pant, if the BCCI allows more than five players to be retained, the franchise is expected to keep Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav, likely in that order, with Jake Fraser-McGurk and Tristan Stubbs as the overseas retentions.
The news of Pant's retention has come on the day he smashed his sixth Test century. Notably, Pant made a remarkable return to red-ball cricket and amassed 109 (128), which featured 13 fours and four sixes.
Delhi Capitals' Plan For Uncapped Players
Further, the report from Cricbuzz mentioned that Abhishek Porel has also impressed the Capitals and he is also on their radar for retention if BCCI allows an uncapped retention.
BCCI is yet to announce their decision on the number of retentions for IPL 2025 and there are reports that the apex board in India is set to announce the decision later this month during their annual general meeting.
DC Squashes Rumours Of Pant's Move To CSK
Talking about Pant, he has been with the Capitals since his IPL debut and after missing IPL 2023 because of injury, he returned to IPL through IPL 2024. There were reports that he might move to CSK to succeed MS Dhoni, but this report has now squashed those rumours.
Recently, Pant also visited JSW's headquarters before leaving for Chennai for the ongoing Test series against Bangladesh. After that meeting, there were speculations that Pant would stay in Delhi.
