Delhi Capitals won’t be giving the head coach responsibility to Sourav Ganguly before going to the mega auction of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.

Instead, they would love to bring in someone as ‘aggressive’ as Gautam Gambhir, who is set to take over India’s head coach duty, replacing Rahul Dravid.

In a report published by News18, a source confirmed that the Delhi-based franchise is looking for someone who ‘follows the circuit aggressively’, just like Gambhir.

Notably, Ganguly is the Director of Cricket for Delhi Capitals, and he manages their secret franchise: the Dubai Capitals in the International League T20 (ILT20) and the Pretoria Capitals in the SA20 league.

"Ganguly already has a lot of things on his plate – planning multiple things for the franchise as the Director of Cricket," a DC source was quoted as saying by News18. "The team needs a very hands-on coach who follows the circuit very aggressively. Like Gautam Gambhir does. It’s no surprise that he has been so successful as a mentor. He keeps track of players – both international and domestic."

In addition, the report also mentioned that Delhi are in discussions with two former World Cup-winning players to replace Ponting, who parted ways with the franchise lately after seven seasons with the franchise.

However, the decision will be taken soon, as a huge mega auction will be coming up before the next IPL season begins.
