Chennai Super Kings, the five-time IPL champions, have announced which players they are keeping and which ones they are letting go ahead of the IPL 2026 mini-auction. The auction will be held on December 16 in Abu Dhabi.
One of the biggest surprises is that CSK have traded away star all-rounders Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran to Rajasthan Royals. In return, CSK have made a massive move by bringing in Sanju Samson for ₹18 crore, the costliest trade in the team’s history.
After a terrible IPL 2025 season, where they finished last (10th place) with only 4 wins and 10 losses, CSK have made major changes to rebuild the squad and free up money in their purse as they aim for a sixth IPL trophy.
Here is the list of CSK’s retained players, released players, and their remaining purse for the mini-auction.
CSK retained players for IPL 2026
CSK have decided to keep 16 players, including 4 overseas players, from their IPL 2025 squad. They have also let go of several big names who were key members of the team. This includes Matheesha Pathirana, who was bought for ₹13 crore but has now been released. Rachin Ravindra and Devon Conway have also been let go. In total, CSK have released 13 players.
Ravichandran Ashwin (retired), Ravindra Jadeja (traded to RR), Sam Curran (traded to RR), Devon Conway (overseas), Matheesha Pathirana (overseas), Rahul Tripathi, Vansh Bedi, Andre Siddarth, Rachin Ravindra, Deepak Hooda, Vijay Shankar, Shaik Rasheed (overseas), Kamlesh Nagarkoti
CSK remaining purse and slots
Notably, CSK have made big changes to reshape their team. They have retained 16 players, which means they now have 9 open slots to fill at the mini-auction. Out of the overseas players, they kept only 4, so they still have four overseas slots available.
With a strong amount of money of 43.4 crore left in their purse and plenty of room to add new talent, CSK will aim to pick smart, impactful players in the mini-auction as they try to bounce back and chase their sixth IPL title next season.
