Sanju Samson has finally responded after the IPL officially confirmed one of the biggest trade deals in its history, the swap between him and Ravindra Jadeja. For the next IPL season, Samson will be playing for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the famous yellow jersey, while Jadeja will return to the Rajasthan Royals (RR), the team where he began his IPL journey.
Along with Jadeja, England all-rounder Sam Curran has also moved to the Royals and will now wear their pink jersey.
Sanju Samson posts his first reaction on Social media
Soon after the news became public, Samson posted his first reaction on Instagram. He shared a picture of himself sitting on a chair by the beach on a sunny day. With the photo, he simply wrote “Vanakkam”, which means “Hello” in Tamil. This was his way of greeting CSK fans and announcing that he is ready to join MS Dhoni and the rest of the team in Chennai.
Meanwhile, he also shared a post for the RR fans, he wrote in a IG post,
“We are only here for a short period of time” Gave MY everything to this franchise, enjoyed some great cricket, made some lifetime relations, treated everyone in the franchise as my family.. And when its time..I AM moving On..😊🙏🏽 Shall always be grateful for everything. 💖 @rajasthanroyals"
The trade is being called one of the biggest and most surprising in IPL history. Samson had been leading the RR since 2021 and was retained for a massive ₹18 crore ahead of the 2025 season. Even though he had been with RR for 11 years, he had hinted after IPL 2025 that he wanted a change and requested the franchise to release him.
Throughout his IPL career, Samson has played 177 matches since he first joined the league with the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). CSK will now be the fourth team he represents. Except for two seasons in 2016 and 2017, when he played for Delhi Capitals (DC), Samson has been a regular face in the Royals’ lineup since 2013.
It is learnt that Samson is not just another signing for CSK, but an important part of their future plans. With MS Dhoni, now 44, expected to play only one more season, CSK sees Samson as someone who can take on multiple roles: a strong top-order batter, a reliable wicketkeeper, and possibly their next captain.
