IPL 2026 Retentions live: Countdown begins !! ⏳
Brace yourselves people 👊 The wait it over. In less than 5 minutes, the IPL 2026 retention list of all 10 teams, CSK, RCB, MI, LSG, DC, SRH, KKR, PBKS, GT and RR, will be officially released.
Stay tuned for real-time updates!!! 🙌
IPL 2026 Retentions live updates: Andre Russell to be released by KKR 😱
Andre Russell, an 11-year KKR veteran, is all set to be released, as reported by ESPN Cricinfo.
KKR retained him for ₹12 crore last year before the mega auction, but he had an underwhelming season (167 runs, 8 wickets).
The 37-year-old's role as a bowler has also diminished to a large extent. Hence, Russell's era is likely to end at the Kolkata Knight Riders.
That is surely a BOLD call!
IPL 2026 Retentions: Venky not yet done with KKR? 🙅♀️
Venkatesh Iyer might be released at the IPL 2026 retention deadline, but his journey with KKR is far from over. Off-loading Iyer for ₹23.75 crores makes sense without a doubt.
However, after a season where he couldn't manage to score a total of 200 runs, the all-rounder's market has dropped significantly.
Hence, the likelihood of KKR buying him back at a much lower price in the IPL 2026 mini-auction seems highly realistic.
That could be a sound decision by KKR management, both strategically and economically.
IPL 2026 Retentions live: DC welcomes homeboy Nitish Rana 🤩
DC's special welcome for Delhi blood Nitish Rana! An all-cash trade deal of ₹4.2 crore has brought Rana back to the Capitals from RR.
DC's tweet [Source: @DelhiCapitals]
The homeboy will undoubtedly be a fan favourite the next time he sets foot in the Arun Jaitely Stadium.
IPL 2026 Retentions live updates: MI still have faith in Will Jacks 🫡
Fresh reports also suggest that Will Jacks is likely to be retained by the Mumbai Indians.
Who can forget the iconic picture of Akash Ambani's handshake with RCB management after the latter opted out of the bidding war for Jacks during mega-auction. 😅
It turned out to be a perfect swap as Tim David went to RCB and Will Jacks landed at MI.
Will Jacks is currently worth ₹5.25 crore and had a decent season in IPL 2025, where he scored 233 runs with a 135.47 strike rate.
IPL 2026 Retentions: Josh Inglis to be released by PBKS 🤨
As per latest updates from Cricbuzz, Josh Inglis is set to be released by PBKS. In IPL 2025, he played 11 games, scoring 278 with a 30.88 average and a 162.57 strike rate.
His release will free up ₹2.60 crore funds for PBKS. If the Kings also release Glenn Maxwell, the available funds will shoot up to ₹6.8 crore. That's surely a tempting choice for Punjab. 😉
IPL 2026 Retentions live: Settled squad = chill life 😎✌️
PBKS, IPL 2025 season runners' up, are chilling with negligible stress ahead of IPL 2026 retention deadline.
PBKS' tweet [Source: @PunjabKingsIPL/X.com]
After years of hardwork, they finally have a settled and balanced squad under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer. So, this time PBKS deserve a break and a less chaotic life 🤭
IPL 2026 Retentions live updates: Shubman Gill-led GT looks settled 😌
Apart from RCB, GT also looks settled and comfortable with the core team they built in IPL 2025 mega auction.
Shubman Gill, Jos Buttler, Sai Sudharsan, Rashid Khan and Kagiso Rabada are some players to be retained without a doubt.
As for their potential releases, Karim Janat, Gerald Coetzee, Kusal Mendis, Dasun Shanaka, Manav Suthar and Kulwant Khejroliya are some named that might not find a place in the retention list.
Notably, they traded Sherfane Rutherford to MI in all-cash deal.
IPL 2026 Retentions: Most expensive trades in IPL history 💸
As the IPL 2026 retention deadline draws closer, let's take a quick look at the five most expensive trades that changed IPL history forever:
- Sanju Samson - RR to CSK (18 crore)
- Cameron Green - MI To RCB (17.5 crore)
- Hardik Pandya - GT To MI (15 crore)
- Shardul Thakur - DC To KKR (10.75 crore)
- Lockie Ferguson - GT To KKR (10 crore)
- Avesh Khan - LSG To RR (10 crore)
Needless to say, when it comes to money and power, nothing comes close to the 'IPL'
IPL 2026 Retentions live: Will MI keep Deepak Chahar? 🤷♀️
Suspense over Deepak Chahar's future continues to prevail. From CSK, he landed in MI last year.
However, with Shardul Thakur already traded, he is likely to play as third bowling option alongside Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya.
With no space available for Chahar in the playing XI, MI can consider releasing him. Remember, his release will free up ₹9.25 crore space. Nevertheless, this is a good headache for MI think tank!
IPL 2026 Retentions live updates: RCB looks sorted 🏆
After a wait of 18 years, RCB finally lifted their maiden IPL trophy in 2025. Hence, in all likelihood, they'll look to retain their winning combination.
However, with Dinesh Karthik at the helm, a few tweaks cannot be ruled out. Liam Livingstone and Yash Dayal are likely to be released. So a sizeable purse is required to invest in more reliable young Indian talents.
IPL 2026 Retentions: Heinrich Klaasen ain't going anywhere 🙂↔️
Heinrich Klaasen is most likely to be retained by SRH. There were speculations of his release, given the big price tag of ₹23 crore that he carries on his shoulders. However, Sunrisers will reportedly back him to secure some strength in the middle-order.
With Mohammed Shami traded, SRH have ₹10 crore in their purse. Moreover, by releasing players like Rahul Chahar, Adam Zampa, Sachin Baby and a couple more, Hyderabad can secure close to ₹20 crore purse value.
IPL 2026 Retentions live: LSG to part ways with Bishnoi 👀
LSG will reportedly release experienced leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi into the IPL 2026 mini-auction pool.
Interestingly, they retained Bishnoi for a whopping ₹11 crore salary cap during last year's mega auction.
However, according to reports, the release will happen through mutual agreement. Ravi Bishnoi is likely given the assurance that LSG will buy him back in the auction but for a lower price.
Bishnoi's stats in IPL 2025 - 11 games, 9 wickets, 44.55 average, 10.83 economy
It's no secret that Bishnoi's form has went haywire in last couple of years. Hence, this move will help LSG free up ₹11 crore space in the auction purse.
IPL 2026 Retentions live updates: Conway confirms his CSK exit ! 🫢
Seems like Devon Conway didn't get the IPL retention guidelines memo. He jumped the gun to confirm his release news on social media with a heartfelt tribute message for CSK fans.
Devon Conway's tweet [Source: @D_Conway88/X.com]
Remember, the retention deadline ends at 3:00 PM IST and an official announcement will be made at 5:00 PM IST.
IPL 2026 Retentions: Samson united with his 'hero' MS Dhoni 💛⭐️
Back in 2020, Sanju Samson had already manifested playing alongside MS Dhoni.
"HE IS A HERO FOR ME. I really had a dream that Mahi bhai is the captain, changing fields. I was in slip and he said, “Sanju aaja.” I ran in, ready for the next ball. That was the dream."
Now fast forward to 2026, Samson will see his dream come true. What a moment and a lesson that 'Never Stop Dreaming'! 🙌
IPL 2026 Retentions live: CSK expand their purse 🤑
CSK could play a smart game here by strengthening their purchase power for the IPL 2026 mini-auction. Their released players list could like the following:
Matheesha Pathirana - ₹13 crore
Devon Conway - ₹6.25 crore
Ravichandaran Ashwin - ₹9.75 crore
Deepak Hooda - ₹1.7 crore
Rachin Ravindra - ₹4 crore
CSK's predicted purse for IPL mini-auction - ₹34.7 crore 💵
IPL 2026 Retentions live updates: DC to cut Jake Fraser McGurk's rope 😬
Delhi Capitals are likely to release Faf du Plessis, whose underwhelming IPL 2025 season, just 202 runs in nine matches, and admission of poor form made the decision straightforward.
DC will likewise part ways with Harry Brook (₹6.25 crore), who didn’t turn up last season and may face IPL sanctions, along with Jake Fraser-McGurk and Mohit Sharma.
T. Natarajan, bought for ₹10.75 crore, played only 2 games in IPL 2025 due to injury. However, despite the heavy price tag and troubling injury history, he is likely to be retained!
That's some faith Delhi have in the left-arm pacer!!
IPL 2026 Retentions: CSK's strategy behind releasing Pathirana 🤔
Releasing Matheesha Pathirana actually seems like a smart, calculated move by CSK. The Sri Lankan quick was retained last year for a massive price of ₹13 crore, but persistent injuries and a tweaked action have reduced his pace and effectiveness.
His IPL 2025 numbers — 13 wickets in 12 matches at 10.14 economy — didn’t justify such a high price tag. With Nathan Ellis already in the squad as a reliable overseas seamer, CSK can afford this call.
Most importantly, they can still buy Pathirana back at a much lower price in the auction. ₹13 crore addition to the purse will make a lot of difference on the auction table. Hence, strategically, this makes sense to some extent!!
IPL 2026 Retentions live: RR had the smartest move?👏
Rajasthan Royals deserve credit for executing two major strategic moves ahead of IPL 2026. Bringing in Ravindra Jadeja significantly boosts their spin attack, fielding strength and lower-order hitting, while acquiring Donovan Ferreira at a low cost adds fresh finishing firepower.
Sam Curran’s arrival as a fast-bowling all-rounder further strengthens their balance. RR have long struggled with depth beyond No. 7, and this trio directly addresses that gap.
If Ferreira delivers on his current form and Jadeja anchors the middle and lower order, the Royals could finally overcome their long-standing finishing issues! Kudos to the management!👏
IPL 2026 Retentions live updates: MI's emotional post for Arjun Tendulkar🥹
MI's post for Arjun Tendulkar [Source: Screengrab]
"Thank you, Arjun for being a valued member of the Mumbai Indians family. Everyone at MI wishes you the very best for the next chapter of your journey with Lucknow Super Giants. We are proud to have been a part of your development and look forward to seeing you continue to grow and get opportunities to make your mark," MI wrote on their official X handle...
IPL 2026 Retentions live: How good is the Donovan Ferreira trade for RR?🤔
Rajasthan Royals securing Donovan Ferreira offers depth, but integrating him into the playing XI will be trouble. With overseas spots likely occupied by Jofra Archer, Wanindu Hasaranga and Sam Curran, dropping Shimron Hetmyer becomes the only route to accommodate Ferreira.
However, Hetmyer has been a proven finisher for RR, while Ferreira, despite his promise, is yet to make a meaningful impact in the IPL. Releasing a player they developed into a reliable middle-order force for an untested option appears risky...
IPL 2026 Retentions live updates: PBKS to retain Lockie Ferguson🤔
New Zealand pacer Lockie Ferguson is set to be retained by Punjab Kings despite suffering a serious injury in April during a match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, where he limped off after bowling just two deliveries.
PBKS are expected to bring in fellow New Zealander Kyle Jamieson as his replacement, with Jamieson listed among the released players.
Punjab Kings had signed Ferguson at his base price of ₹2 crore and have opted to keep him. Other overseas names the franchise is likely to retain include Marcus Stoinis, Marco Jansen, Josh Inglis, Azmatullah Omarzai, Xavier Bartlett, and Mitchell Owen.

Matheesha Pathirana [Source: @mufaddal_vohra/X.com]
The CSK youngster would certainly be bought back in the upcoming auction but for now, he has been released as the retention window closes at 3:00 PM IST.
IPL 2026 Retentions live: Nitish Rana in DC is a good trade?🤔
Delhi Capitals brought in Nitish Rana ahead of the PL 2026 retentions and it seems like a move that has been roped in to strengthen the middle order of DC.
KL Rahul might come out to open as Rana will take command in No. 3 or No. 4. Tristan Stubbs and Karun Nair will be following Rana given the ex-KKR star's strong credentials in those positions.
IPL 2026 Retentions live updates: Ravindra Jadeja opens up on joining RR!🗣️🩷

Kumar Sangakkara shared his thoughts on addition of the star all-rounder!
"He's [Jadeja] fearless, adaptable, and thrives in pressure situations with both bat and ball. Together, Jadeja and Sam give us balance, leadership, and the kind of match-winning depth we want as we build for the future," Sangakkara said.

IPL 2026 Retentions live updates: KL Rahul for KKR?🗣️
Absolutely no certainty here... KKR is super excited to bring in LSG's premier batter; however, buzz says LSG is not willing to trade KL Rahul if Rinku Singh is not being offered.. Venkatesh Iyer is up for trade, but LSG turns a blind eye to anyone other than Rinku...

Well, there are plenty of options but let's take a look at the most closest and most possible options here:
- Riyan Parag
- Yashasvi Jaiswal
- Ravindra Jadeja
Well, as of now, Riyan Parag seems the most viable option for the fanbase perspective as well as the management. Nevertheless, Jaiswal, and the arrival of 'Thalapathy' cannot be completely ignored!!!

IPL 2026 Retentions live: MI youngster Vignesh Puthur set to be retained?
Vignesh Puthur, Mumbai Indians’ young left-arm chinaman from Malappuram, is set to be retained by the franchise. The promising spinner made a strong impression in IPL 2025 with a three-wicket haul on debut.
Although an injury sidelined him after just a few matches last season, MI continue to back Puthur and view the Kerala-born talent as a long-term prospect.
IPL 2026 Retentions live updates: Maxwell's fate in PBKS?
Punjab Kings are expected to retain most of their squad for IPL 2026, unlike previous seasons. Only a handful of players are likely to be released, with Glenn Maxwell and Aaron Hardie emerging as the major names who could be let go. Maxwell’s underwhelming performances for PBKS may be a key factor behind his possible release.
IPL 2026 Retentions live: Which players CSK might release?
Chennai Super Kings are expected to part ways with several major players ahead of the auction, including Devon Conway, Rahul Tripathi, Rachin Ravindra, Deepak Hooda, Vijay Shankar, and Jamie Overton. Additionally, Ravichandran Ashwin’s retirement from the IPL will free up an extra ₹9.25 crore for the franchise.
IPL 2026 Retentions live updates: RCB to let go of these players...?
Royal Challengers Bengaluru, the IPL 2025 champions, are expected to let go of a few big names. Liam Livingstone is likely to be released, and Rasikh Salam Dar, the costliest uncapped player in IPL 2025, is also set to be shown the door.

Scroll down to see the official Trade List of franchises IPL released today morning!⬇️
IPL 2026 Retentions live: What are the Retentions? How it works?
- The IPL 2026 season will have a mini-auction on December 16, 2025, in Abu Dhabi, with released players and new names entering the bidding pool.
- Unlike the IPL 2025 mega auction, no franchise can use the Right-to-Match (RTM) card this year, making all auction bids completely open.
- Each team’s auction purse will increase based on the value of players they release, giving heavy-releasing sides like CSK and RR more spending power.
- Franchises face no limit on the number of players they can retain for IPL 2026, a rule applied only in non–mega auction years.
- Every team must keep its squad size within the limit of 25 players, including both Indian and overseas cricketers.
- The trade window remains open until the retention deadline, enabling teams to complete swaps or all-cash deals before the mini-auction.
