Mumbai’s middle-order resolute Shivam Dube tonked a majestic hundred for his side in their Elite Group B Ranji Trophy 2024 clash against Uttar Pradesh. Batting at number six and arriving to the crease at a precarious situation, the cricketer counterattacked his way to a belligerent first-class century, and completed the milestone figure from just 110 balls.

Dube’s defiance also put Mumbai ahead of Uttar Pradesh on Day 3 of their four-day bout at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium.

Mere months prior to the launch of the IPL 2024 season, Shivam Dube flexed his hard-hitting dexterity against Uttar Pradesh during their four-day Ranji Trophy 2024 bout at Mumbai. With Mumbai facing a 126-run first innings deficit after the halfway stage of the game, their troubles worsened further at 59-4 before Dube took guard at the crease.

The Indian all-rounder subsequently lost Prasad Pawar and team captain Ajinkya Rahane as Mumbai ended up losing six wickets for just 86 on the board, still finding themselves 40 runs away from clearing their deficit.

Amidst tumbling wickets at the stroke of an innings defeat, Shivam Dube counterattacked Uttar Pradesh bowlers instead by unleashing an extraordinary exhibition of boundaries and sixes. He took Mumbai past the 126-run deficit with ease, and extended their lead over 100 runs just moments before completing his own century from 110 balls.

The innings marked Shivam Dube’s third first-class ton, and his first in the format in nearly six years.

Shivam Dube is also slated to reprise his all-round role for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) franchise in a couple of months’ time at the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season. The 30-year-old was retained by the CSK management alongside the likes of franchise veterans MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja and Deepak Chahar back in November 2023.
