You rarely see Shaheen Afridi get battered by the opposition, particularly in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). However, Saud Shakeel, the 28-year-old batsman from Pakistan, made him look like a kid on Monday (February 19) during Lahore Qalandars’ fixture against Quetta Gladiators in Match 4 of the ongoing edition in Lahore.

Coming to chase 188, Shaheen, the defending champions’ skipper, took the new ball to start the attack. Shakeel played cautiously in the opening over, playing three dot balls before playing a shot for four runs. Then he brought out an outrageous shot in the following over, and no wonder Shaheen could not believe what just happened against him.

To finish the sixth ball of the third over, Shaheen, a sensational player like no other, bowled a pitched-up delivery to Shakeel, who was anticipating an exactly similar delivery. The southpaw shimmied across the line and played a no-look shot over fine leg, and the connection was so perfect that the ball went way over the boundary rope for six.

Shakeel, who has been in excellent form, scored 40 off 23 balls, laced with seven fours and one six before Zaman Khan knocked him over during the seventh over. It helped Rilee Rossouw’s Gladiators to see off a challenging target with five wickets and as many balls to spare.
