On Sunday, August 18, Virat Kohli completed 16 years in Indian colours. The former Indian captain made his India debut in ODIs against Sri Lanka on this day.

In 16 years, Kohli emerged as one of the greatest batters ever, as he has two World Cups and three ICC trophies. Over the years, Virat has earned several accolades and has broken numerous records. The 35-year-old, the most followed person in Asia on Instagram, has deservingly earned the moniker of 'King Kohli' for his contribution to Indian cricket.

On Virat's special day, several renowned cricketers took to social media platforms to congratulate the right-hand batter on a spectacular career. The latest to jump onto the bandwagon is BCCI Secretary Jay Shah.

Shah took to Twitter, where he congratulated Kohli and also referred to him by his  'King'.

"16 years ago today, a 19-year-old @imVkohli stepped onto the international stage for the first time, marking the beginning of what has become a truly legendary career. Congratulations to the King on completing 16 years in international cricket!" Wrote Shah on his Twitter handle.

How Did Virat's India Debut Go?

Virat did not have a dream debut as, he firstly, had to open the innings due to Virender Sehwag's unavailability.  Then 19-year-old, Virat scored just 12 (22) after Nuwan Kulasekara trapped him in front of the stumps and Kohli was adjudged LBW out on his debut match.
