Virat Kohli is one of the most influential figures in cricket and will go down in history as one of the best players to hold the bat.

He is often compared to Sachin Tendulkar and there is another debate over who is a better cricketer. Meanwhile, Virat has often shrugged off such comparisons, but the fans have lovingly given him the title of 'King of Cricket'.

Virat has rightly earned the moniker of 'King of Cricket' and is mostly referred to as 'King' only by his fans and cricket pundits. But why is it so? Why is Kohli called as the 'King of Cricket'

Making Of The King

Time and time again, Virat has proved his mettle as a batter, as he has taken India out of crunch situations played an anchor role during the chase and made sure to seal the win for his side.

Virat is also referred to as chase master, as he has shone on the days when India required him the most. Virat rose to fame during the Hobart game in 2012, where he smashed peak Lasith Malinga all over the ground and scored a brilliant 133 off 86 balls.

Virat also proved his worth in ICC events after he smashed Australia in the 2016 T20 World Cup tie and scored a brilliant unbeaten 82 (51).

One of the latest innings where Virat proved his title of 'Chase master' was against Pakistan in the 2022 T20 World Cup, where India lost early wickets and India were out of the game when Virat's unbeaten 82 (53) helped the Men in Blue seal the win.

Virat Loves To Chase The Records

Not only matches, but Virat has a tryst with breaking records. During the 2023 World Cup, India broke Sachin Tendulkar's record for most ODI centuries. Also, he is the first player to reach 50 ODI centuries.

Thus, to conclude, Sachin is regarded as the 'God of Cricket', but Virat too deserves the title of a King.
