We are just a day away from the start of IPL 2025 as RCB will lock horns against KKR at the Chinnaswamy Stadium on May 17, which will be the first match of the extended league because of cross-border tensions. In the wake of the recent tensions, several overseas stars have refused to return to the league and it has caused trouble to the franchises. 

Meanwhile, the IPL governing body decided to help the ten teams and announced that they are allowed to rope in temporary replacements for the rest of the season, who wouldn't be allowed to retain them for the next season. Meanwhile, several teams have opted for replacements and this article will look at all the official replacements named so far. 

Confirmed

Lockie Ferguson, who was injured before the hiatus, has been ruled out recently and has been replaced by Kyle Jamieson for just three games. Meanwhile, Mayank Yadav has suffered a fresh injury and has been replaced by William O'Rourke. 

Meanwhile, JFM has refused to return to India because of ongoing tensions and has been replaced by Mustafizur Rahman. Also, Jos Buttler will return to England for international duties before playoffs. 

Rumours

It is worth noting that South Africa players and England stars will return for international duties after the group-stage games and won't be available for selection. Notable stars like Tristan Stubbs, Will Jacks, Ryan Rickelton and several other big names will return to their country for international duties. Talking about South Africa players, they have an all-important WTC final against Australia on June 11.

Meanwhile, according to latest reports, Mitchell Starc has communicated with DC that he won't be returning for the rest of the season, which means that the Capitals too would be naming a replacement soon.
