However, to settle the debate once and for all, Rohit Sharma turned up for a chat with Star Sports during lunch break on Day 2 of the fifth Test. Rohit squashed retirement rumours to confirm that his decision to take a break is only limited to the SCG Test.

He vowed to work harder and make a comeback soon. Not only that, the batter took shots at his own team, saying India is playing with many out-of-form players, and he wished to no longer be a part of that group.

That being said, fans had different perspectives on the bombshell interview. While some sided with Rohit Sharma, a few questioned his intentions. Social media has been a buzz since then, so here’s a quick look at some tweets that represent different narratives.

Rohit Sharma was reportedly going to retire from Test cricket after the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, as reports claimed that BCCI wants to move on from him.
