India and Australia are taking on each other in the fifth and final Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 at the Sydney Cricket Ground. One of the major surprises for the Indian cricket fans ahead of the game was that the regular skipper, Rohit Sharma did not walk out for the toss.

The fact that Rohit Sharma decided to drop himself for the Test match and handed over the responsibility to Jasprit Bumrah gave rise to rumours that the Indian star is about to announce his retirement from the purest format of the game.

Rohit Sharma Squashes Retirement Rumours

However, much to the relief of the Indian cricket and Rohit Sharma fans, the maverick has announced that he is not going any where. In an exclusive interview with the official broadcasters, Rohit said - 'Arrey yaar, main kahi na jaa raha hu ( I am not going anywhere)'.

When Rohit Sharma was asked about his decision of not playing in the game, the dashing Indian opener replied -

"Well, I will tell you honestly. I have taken this decision only to step down from this Test match. I will play for India and I have nothing to do with retirement as of now. It was going on my mind and I was trying really hard on my batting. It was not happening so I feel it was a sensible decision to step down for this important Test."

Rohit Sharma Keeps His Involvement In The Game

The Indian maverick proved how selfless and what a great team man he is during the second day of the final Test. When a partnership was struck between Steve Smith and Beau Webster in the middle, Sharma was seen walking out with drinks and giving advice to the stand-in skipper, Jasprit Bumrah
