ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is less than three months away. However, there is no update over the tournament's schedule as ICC face an uphill task ahead of them. Notably, India have refused to travel to Pakistan because of security reasons and urged for a hybrid model.

Meanwhile, the PCB has refuted such claims and are adamant about hosting the tournament entirely in Pakistan. The apex council of cricket will hold a meeting with the two boards to come to a solution.

Tejashwi Yadav Appeals To Government To Not Mix Sports With Politics

In the latest events, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav has urged the Indian government to send the Indian team to Pakistan and to not mix politics with sports.

“Involving politics in sports is not a good thing. Doesn’t everyone participate in the Olympics? Why shouldn’t India go to Pakistan? If the PM can go there to have Biryani, why can’t the Indian cricket team travel for a tournament?” news agency ANI quoted Tejashwi Yadav as saying.

It is worth noting that India and Pakistan have not played any bilateral series since 2012/13. Meanwhile, Tejashwi Yadav used to play cricket and also played alongside Virat Kohli in domestic cricket.

Pakistan's Response To Possibility Of Hybrid Model

Talking about the ICC meeting, there are possibilities that PCB might agree to a hybrid model, but they also want an assurance that the rest of the upcoming ICC events in India would also be in a hybrid model as Pakistan won't travel to India.

“I can confirm initially the PCB had looked at the possibility of a hybrid model on the condition that if India can’t play in Pakistan, then in future there would be hybrid models in all ICC events in India right until 2031 (ODI World Cup in India and Bangladesh) as Pakistan would not go and play in India," a source told PTI.

It is expected that by the end of November, ICC would take a decision on the suspence around Champions Trophy 2025.
