BCCI Reacts To PCB's 2026 WC Boycott Threat If IND Doesn't Travel To PAK For Champions Trophy

BCCI vice-president Rajiv Shukla has come down hard on Pakistan for threatening to boycott the 2026 T20 World Cup in India. Notably, the Pakistan Cricket Board has the right to host the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

However, the Men in Blue might not travel to the neighbouring country for the event if the Indian Government doesn't approve them.

Rajiv Shukla unperturbed by Pakistan's boycott threat

If India forces the ICC to conduct the Champions Trophy in a hybrid mode, Pakistan might retaliate and even boycott the 2026 edition of the T20 World Cup.

However, BCCI vice-president Rajiv Shukla seems unperturbed by Pakistan's threat. During the Uttar Pradesh Premier League players' auction, Shukla notified Pakistan about the BCCI's firm stance regarding travelling to the nation.

"Pakistan can say whatever it wants about coming to India during the 2026 World Cup, but we are only waiting for the approval of the Indian government," he said.

Meanwhile, another BCCI official revealed that the BCCI has not received a positive response from the Indian Government regarding the team's travel to Pakistan.

"Of course, we expect retaliation. If we don’t travel to Pakistan, they will threaten to boycott the Asia Cup. But PCB should understand that it’s not in BCCI’s hands. Sending a team to a foreign country requires the government of India’s permission. So far, we have had dialogues regarding Champions Trophy. But we haven’t had any positive outcomes,” the official stated, as quoted by Cricket Pakistan.
