As per a recent report by PTI, the BCCI officials and the Indian team management haven’t given any instructions to the Indian players regarding workload management for the 2024 edition of the Indian Premier League.

Notably, the cash-rich tournament is scheduled to take place from 22nd March to 26th May 2024. And, right after that, the T20 World Cup will be taking place in the USA and West Indies.

The T20 World Cup 2024 begins on 1st June 2024 and India will play their first match on 5th June in New York. Hence, the core group of players are ought to manage their workload to be fit for the perennial tournament. However, the top officials haven’t given any instructions to the players regarding the same.

Perhaps, it isn’t fair to the IPL franchises who have spent lots of money to bag the services of these players. All the franchises want their big players to feature in all the games and help them win the title. Having said that, the franchises’ support staff will regularly provide fitness updates of the key Indian players to NCA.

"They are being paid highly and they can't pick and choose games for franchises. But yes, for all those centrally contracted and targeted players (next lot), the franchise's support staff will have to regularly provide fitness update to the NCA Sports Science head Nitin Patel," a source close to BCCI has revealed.

The report also stated that the players whose team failed to reach the playoffs will head to New York earlier as opposed to the ones whose team managed to make it to the knockout stages.
