The India-England Test series in early 2024 turned out to be quite an enthralling one with both team adopting aggressive style of play, and India coming out on top with a 4-1 margin. Yashasvi Jaiswal was the biggest star for India with 712 runs and his aggressive batting, and it completely nullified the Bazball approach of England that they proudly boasted before the start of the series.

Ben Duckett, the English opener also made a controversial remark during the third Test of the series at Rajkot where he stated that England deserve credit for making other teams play aggressively in Test cricket. The comment did not go well with the fans and even former England cricketers like Nasser Hussain and Michael Vaughan criticised Ben Duckett for his remarks.

Ben Duckett Calls Yashasvi Jaiswal As World-Class Batter

Now, Ben Duckett has opened up on his comments while talking to Daily Mail ahead of the Sri Lanka series. The opener mentioned that he was just complimenting Yashasvi Jaiswal and added that he even said that the Indian opener is a world-class player but added that no one spoke about that and only looked at one side of the picture.

"It was actually me paying him a nice compliment. I’m pretty sure I said he was a world-class player, but no one spoke about that. Would I have said what I did during the fifth Test? No, because he played like that throughout the whole series, and he was incredible."

Talking about Duckett, he has been instrumental in England's success in the new Bazball era with his aggressive batting at the top of the order and would be looking to continue that when the series against Sri Lanka starts on 21st of August at Old Trafford in Manchester.
