Pakistan's premier batter, Babar Azam, is on the verge of attaining a phenomenal landmark during the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh. Led by Shan Masood, Pakistan will face Bangladesh in two Test matches on home soil later this month.

This series holds significant importance for the hosts, giving them a golden opportunity to boost their percentage points in the World Test Championship standings.

Babar Azam could score 3000 WTC runs before Rohit, Kohli

Meanwhile, Pakistan's star batter Babar Azam eyes a rare batting feat in the two-match series against Bangladesh.

Notably, the stylish right-handed batter has amassed 2661 runs, the most by a Pakistani batter in WTC history.

So, if he scores 339 more runs, Babar will enter the prestigious 3000-run club, becoming only the fifth batter to unlock the feat.

Most runs in WTC history

  • Joe Root- 4598 runs in 55 matches
  • Marnus Labuschagne- 3904 runs in 45 matches
  • Steve Smith- 3486 runs in 45 matches
  • Ben Stokes- 3101 runs in 48 matches
  • Usman Khawaja- 2686 runs in 32 matches
  • Babar Azam- 2661 runs in 29 matches

As mentioned in the list, Joe Root holds the record for most runs in WTC, while Babar is in sixth position.

Interestingly, he is ahead of Indian greats Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli and can be quicker than the duo to score 3000 runs in WTC.

Pakistan's two-match Test series against Bangladesh begins on August 21, with the first game in Rawalpindi.
