Bangladesh will be hosting Sri Lanka in their next assignment of the 2023-25 cycle of the World Test Championship (WTC) in March-April. The two Tests will be played in Sylhet and Chattogram, historically marking this as the first home series for Bangladesh without a Test held in their den - the Shere Bangla Stadium in Mirpur.

The iconic venue in Dhaka will be busy at the time for Bangladesh women's side's matches against the touring Australians at the conclusion of March. Apart from the Tests, the Lankan Lions will also take on the Bangla Tigers in three T20Is and three ODIs.

According to the itinerary revealed by ESPNcricinfo, the Sri Lankans will arrive in Bangladesh on March 1 and play the three T20Is in Sylhet on March 4, 6 and 9. The focus will then shift to the ODI leg with fixtures scheduled on March 13, 15 and 18 in Chattogram, respectively.

The two understated subcontinental rivals will return to Sylhet for the Test series opener from March 22, which will be Sri Lanka's second series of this Test championship cycle and start off Bangladesh's second home assignment for the two-year league phase.

The hosts, who managed to pull off a historic win over New Zealand in Sylhet in a 1-1 series draw in December, will be taking on the Lankan Lions in Chattogram for the second and final Test, starting March 30.

Bangladesh are placed fourth in the WTC 2023-25 points standings with their first win of the Test championship era while the Sri Lankans, yet to open their account, are placed ninth with a 2-0 whitewash faced against Pakistan last July.

The limited-overs leg will act as the two teams' preparation exercise towards the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in the Caribbean & USA in June.
