Bangladesh  Defend The Lowest Target In T20 WCs To Qualify For The Super Eights

Bangladesh faced off against Nepal in the 37th match of the ongoing T20 World Cup at the Arnos Vale Stadium in Kingstown, St. Vincent. It was a must-win game for the Najmul Hossain Shanto-led side to qualify for the Super Eights.

Nepal made a great start to the match as Sompal Kami got a wicket off the first ball. After this, Bangladesh kept on losing wickets, and it looked like Nepal would snatch away their Super Eight chances. Kami, Airee, Paudel, and Lamichhane picked up two wickets each and bundled out Bangladesh for 106 runs in the last over of the innings.

It was a challenging task ahead for Bangladesh to restrict Nepal within the low total and win the game. But the bowlers stood up to the challenge as a march of the Nepalese batters was started by Tanzim Hasan Sakib. He dismantled the top-order and had Nepal reeling at 20/3 in 4.2 overs.

Nepal failed to recover from the early setback and were bundled out for 85 runs in the last over of the game. Bangladesh won the match by 21 runs and, with that, recorded the defence of the lowest-ever total in T20 World Cups. Shanto and the team management will be encouraged by the show from the bowlers ahead of the Super Eights and hope to continue this performance.
