In Match No.38 of the ongoing ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024, the Netherlands won the toss and elected to bowl first against Sri Lanka. Despite this decision, Sri Lankan batters delivered an impactful performance, and managed to post a commendable total of 201/6 in their allotted 20 overs.

During the chase the Netherlands faced early setbacks, losing wickets at regular intervals. The situation deteriorated further when they lost the in-form batter Vikramjit Singh, who was dismissed after scoring just 7 runs off 10 balls. 

In the third delivery of the 8th over, Netherlands' innings, in-form Vikramjit Singh was dismissed by Dasun Shanaka, which marked a significant moment in Shanaka's 100th T20I appearance. The Lanka bowler delivered a short ball on the stumps, which Vikramjit attempted to pull. However, he only managed to get a top edge, as the ball was high behind square on the leg side. 

Kamindu Mendis, positioned at deep square leg, ran to his left to make the catch. Despite juggling the ball and nearly dropping it, Mendis managed to secure it on the second attempt with a forward dive.

The Netherlands batter has been unable to play and maintain momentum as they lost wickets at regular intervals. At the time of writing, Netherlands is struggling and has scored 117/9 inside 17 overs and have almost lost the match.
