Pakistan cricket is undergoing a major reform as the Men in Green have hit a new bottom with a recent series defeat against Bangladesh at home. Pakistan have had a miserable last 1.5 years as they also suffered early exits from ICC World Cup 2023 and T20 World Cup 2024. 

In order to improve the quality of cricket in Pakistan, the PCB launched the Champions One-Day Cup. The newly innaugrated List A tournament commenced on September 12 and it features the likes of Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shadab Khan. 

Gary Kirsten To Hold Meeting With Mentors

Recently, Pakistan head coach Gary Kirsten too made an appearance at the Iqbal Stadium to watch the Lions take on the Panthers and also commentated in that game. In the latest events, Cricket Pakistan reported that Kirsten will hold a meeting with the coaches and mentors of the five teams to evaluate the performance and quality of domestic leagues. 

According to the sources, Kirsten will lead a detailed evaluation of player performances in the ongoing tournament and will ask for a feedback from the mentors over the areas these players can improve The meeting aims to improve Pakistan cricket from the grassroot level. Kirsten will also propose strategies to lay plans for the future. 

Babar Azam And Shaheen Afridi's Performance In Champion One-Day Cup

Both Babar and Shaheen have played two games in the ongoing Champions One-Day Cup. Babar has found some runs with the bat as Pakistan's white-ball skipper scored a fifty in the first game and played run-a-ball 45-runs knock in the recent match. 

Meanwhile, Shaheen took two wickets in his first game, and bettered his performance in the recent match against the Panthers and took three wickets.
