Pakistan unveiled their jersey for the new edition of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, and former skipper Babar Azam sported the kit in the latest photoshoot. Pakistan Cricket Board launched the jersey at a ceremony held at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
For the first time in a couple of decades, an ICC tournament is to be held on Pakistani soil. They bagged the rights to host the Champions Trophy 2025 edition, slated to begin from February 19.
However, the tournament will be partially hosted in Dubai as Team India refused to travel to Pakistan for security reasons.
Babar Azam stuns in new Pakistan jersey
That being said, during the grand opening ceremony of the newly renovated Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, the Pakistan squad for the Champions Trophy arrived at the podium to unveil their jersey for the tournament.
The team ditched the darker shade of green to embrace a much lighter version for the special tournament.
Days after the event, Pakistan’s former captain Babar Azam took to social media to share exclusive images of the new kit.
Babar Azam looked dapper as he posed in the sleek new jersey, featuring modern design elements combined with the traditional green colour that symbolises Pakistan cricket.
Meanwhile, for the Champions Trophy, Babar Azam is set to open the innings for Pakistan after Saim Ayub was ruled out with a grievous ankle injury. However, in the first ODI of the tri-series against New Zealand, he could only score 10 runs in 23 deliveries.
Babar, Shaheen, and Rizwan Slip in ICC Player Rankings
The ICC recently released the updated rankings for men's cricket players in T20I format, which did not bring very good news to Pakistan's superstars, Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Afridi. Babar, who earlier was at sixth position, slipped to seventh place, while Rizwan lost one position to eighth with 704 rating points. Afridi also slipped one position to rank fourth in the bowlers ranking.
