Good news for the Karachi Kings fans! Former Australia star batter David Warner has been appointed as the team captain for Pakistan Super League 10. The tournament will start on April 11. Warner, who was roped in by Karachi Kings for USD 300,000. This huge amount bid from Kings made star opener the most expensive player drafted in the history of PSL drafts.

Why David Warner Appointed As Captain?

David Warner is known for his aggressive batting style and vast leadership experience. The left-handed opener has won both ODI and T20 World Cups and has captained teams in various leagues, including the Big Bash League (BBL). Karachi Kings picked him as their first choice in the Platinum category during the PSL 10 Players Draft, held on January 13, 2025, at Hazoori Bagh, Lahore.

The team’s management also thanked last season’s captain, Shan Masood, for his efforts in leading the side in a new direction.

David Warner's Unexpected IPL Snub

Despite his impressive career, Warner faced a shocking snub in the IPL 2025 mega auction. He was released by Delhi Capitals, and no team placed a bid for him, even with a base price of ₹2 crore. However, Warner remained a highly sought-after player in other leagues, and Karachi Kings quickly secured his services for PSL 10.

Warner has also been part of major championship-winning teams, including Australia’s 2015 ODI World Cup, the 2023 World Test Championship, and the 2016 IPL title with Sunrisers Hyderabad as captain.

After missing out on the IPL, Warner found a new opportunity in PSL 2025, where Karachi Kings made him their top priority. His arrival not only strengthens the team but also makes them one of the most dangerous batting lineups in the tournament.
