It was a game to remember for Delhi Capitals' Ashutosh Sharma, who stunned Lucknow Super Giants in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2025. The right-hander played an incredible fighting 66* run knock against Lucknow in Visakhapatnam.

Ashutosh Sharma Credits Shikhar Dhawan For His Performance

In what turned out to be one of the finest thrillers in IPL history, the fourth match between Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants went right down to the wire as Capitals survived a massive scare courtesy of their middle-order batter Ashutosh Sharma’s resilient 66* run knock off just 31 deliveries, with five fours and as many sixes as he struck runs at 212.90.

The DC side were in deep trouble right from the beginning of their innings, with three down for seven on the board, as they were chasing a mammoth 210. The wickets kept tumbling one after the other, but Ashutosh received decent support by Vipraj Nigam in the middle, with 39 runs coming from just 15 deliveries from the bat of the debutant.

However, despite the Nigam’s knock, the game went right down to the wire, which Ashutosh sealed with a six off the third delivery of the final over against Shahbaz Ahmed as Delhi bagged a win with just one wicket in their bank.

After the game, Ashutosh was elated for playing a knock that he would remember for ages and then thanked his mentor and former Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan for the valued performance.

"I just wanted to execute whatever I have worked hard so far in the practice sessions. I am very pleased and I want to dedicate this award to my mentor, Shikhar Paaji (Dhawan) who is not here at the moment."

While receiving the Player of the Match award, Ashutosh thanked Dhawan for his help in executing the plans during practice sessions, as he worked extremely hard to live up to this moment.

Delhi Capitals Steal The Game By One Wicket

After putting Lucknow into bat, Delhi were star-struck by the incredible batting of Mitchell Marsh (72) and Nicholas Pooran (75), both coming at a strike rate above 200 as Lucknow banged 209 in their respective 20 overs. In reply, the Delhi side, courtesy of Ashutosh, finished the game with just one wicket to spare in Vizag.

After this thrilling encounter, both these sides will next feature against Sunrisers Hyderabad, with Delhi facing the SunRisers challenge on the 30th of March, while Lucknow will be up against them on the 27th of March.
