Now with the Border-Gavaskar Trophy concluding on Sunday, January 5, the focus has now shifted to white-ball cricket, where India will take on England at home in January and then play the all-important Champions Trophy 2025. Ahead of the crucial event, the Men in Blue are sweating hard over their bowlers' fitness.
It is worth noting that Jasprit Bumrah didn't bowl on day 3 of the fifth Test because of an injury scare. Meanwhile, the focus has also shifted to Mohammed Shami, who hasn't featured for India since the World Cup 2023 final.
Shami was ruled out of action in 2024 because of a heel injury. He underwent surgery, completed his rehab and returned to the nets, but yet was denied a match fitness certificate by NCA doctors as he had a new swelling in his knee that ruled him out of international cricket.
It is worth noting that Shami was in contention to join the BGT squad as he was featuring in domestic tournaments and doing well. However, he failed to return to his 100%. Is Shami now fit for the Champions Trophy?
