Former South African and West Indies captains, AB de Villiers and Chris Gayle celebrated RCB’s IPL 2025 victory in unison at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Shortly after RCB pipped Punjab Kings by six runs in the final, the two ‘Hall of Famers’ were spotted hugging each other in jubilation as the franchise ended its 18-year drought to lift its maiden silverware.
It is worth noting that both, AB de Villiers and Gayle spent a major chunk of their respective IPL careers for the RCB franchise before confirming their exits from the game.

AB de Villiers and Chris Gayle both attended the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on June 3 to extend their support for the RCB franchise in the IPL 2025 final. The two legendary batters, who were inducted into the RCB Hall of Fame back in mid-2022, were spotted dancing and celebrating RCB’s six-run win as the franchise lifted its maiden silverware in the league’s 18-year saga.
It is worth noting that earlier this season, AB de Villiers made a vow of visiting India in case RCB reaches the final. The legendary South African batter even stated that he will be there lifting the trophy at the winner’s podium alongside Virat Kohli. Chris Gayle, who also played for Punjab Kings during his IPL playing days, sported an RCB jersey and donned a traditional Punjabi turban to showcase his support for both teams.
As it happened, RCB batted first and amassed 190-9 from 20 overs. Virat Kohli top-scored in the innings with 43 quick runs from 35 balls, while Jitesh Sharma served the slog-overs impetus with a fiery 10-ball 24.
Chasing 191, Punjab Kings were strangulated by Josh Hazlewood and an economical Krunal Pandya, despite featuring an explosive 30-ball 61* from Shashank Singh.
