RCB End Trophy Drought In The 18th Year Of IPL

There were rumours that Virat Kohli would not play IPL once RCB win the trophy, but in a chat immediately after the match, the King of world cricket put aside all those rumours and mentioned that the win in IPL is right up there in his achievements in cricket. Virat Kohli stated that he will play for RCB till his last day in IPL, clearly stating that he is not retiring after this win.

"[On scale of monumental moments] It's right up there. I have given everything for the last 18 years, stayed loyal to this team no matter what. We stood behind each other and I always dreamt of winning with them. My heart and soul is with Bangalore. This is the team I will play for till the last day I play in the IPL. I am someone who wants to win the big moments and this one was missing. Tonight I will sleep like a baby."

RCB now have joined the elite list of teams to win the IPL trophy. Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings have done it five times, while Kolkata Knight Riders have won it thrice. RCB have now joined SRH, Deccan Chargers, Rajasthan Royals and Gujarat Titans in the list of teams to win the trophy once.

The final started with Punjab Kings deciding to bowl first after winning the toss. They bowled well and kept RCB in control and had a target of 191 infront of them. It looked like a chaseable target and Punjab Kings started off on a bright note as well. However, they lost wickets in the middle overs and the required rate kept increasing with each passing over.

In the end, it became too difficult for Punjab in the final few overs, and despite a good knock from Shashank Singh, they lost the match by six runs.
